Gideon Lewis - Ashe County, NC

There are a lot of conflicting ideas as to where Gideon's father, another Gideon, came from, but my theory is that they came from South Carolina up into North Carolina. I don't know of any Randolph Co., connection, but never know with all those potential descendants.

There have been claims by some that my Daniel LEWIS born 1790s NC is from this line, but I haven't seen any evidence of it. Has anyone from your Gideon LEWIS DNA tested?

Yes, DNA has been tested and it appears that my Gideon Lewis connects with a SC branch and also George Lewis of CT. Some of the ideas through generations have been that he was born to Quakers in Pennsylvania or came into NC from VA, having a connection to the note-worthy Lewises of Warner Hall (my granddaughter's lineage). Not so when you look at DNA testing. I have not seen a Daniel Lewis in my Lewis family.
