William J. Kennedy
Hi everyone, I am trying to find information on my great-grandfather, William Jackson Kennedy. He was born Feb-2-1882 in Scotland.
He married Isabelle Stone Brown on Feb-1-1916 in Bonhill, Scotland.
He was enlisted with the British Army during WWI.
He resided at 14 Third Street, Alexandria, Scotland, until immigrating in 1923.
He immigrated to Montreal, Canada on the Metagama, and then on to the U.S. to meet up with his wife and 2 daughters (Elizabeth M. Kennedy, 1919-2001 and Dorothy J. Kennedy, 1920 - still living). Isabelle passed away in 1943, and William married Jean Turnbull (1898-1984).
William passed away on Feb-4-1967.
I would like to find more information about William's parents and siblings, and back beyond them.

I think we talked about this line before. William was actually born on 19th Feb 1882 at Newton on Ayr to Gilbert Kennedy and Margaret Jackson who married in Glasgow 29 Dec 1865. Gilbert died in Dumbarton 24 Mar 1917. According to my notes the parentage data for Gilbert on his death certificate is incorrect, he was the son of Peter Kennedy and Margaret Hunter from Ayr. Somewhat inconveniently Peter is out of the house in both 1841 and 1851 but was supposed to be a mariner which may account for it, if he was still alive. (mind you there is a retired mariner Peter in Liverpool in 1851 claiming to be widowed...).

No, this is data from my one-name study into the Kennedys - 90,000 Kennedys and counting. My line is from the Highlands so unlikely to be close relatives I'm afraid.

I want to add, I am not surprised that I had his birth date wrong, as I got it from a Border Crossing log and I am sure plenty of errors were made on those :).
(and I just realized that I made a mistake as well, when I made my original post. The date I had was actually the 22nd, not the 2nd. But I am changing my records to the 19th now) -
