Hi,
I am researching Hamburg too, or very near Hamburg. I haven't found any documents to pinpoint their origin:
Oscar Dittman b. 10 Jun 1867 Hamburg?, d. 20 Jun 1938 Duluth, MN. He married Berth Wilhelmine Wendland in Duluth, MN
Oscar's parents are Daniel Friedrich Wilhelm Dittman, b. 15 Jan 1837 Stettin?, and Natalie Von Darich, b. abt 1840
Daniel's parents were Daniel Dittman and Caroline Steinhoefel.
I haven't personally proven any of the above except Oscar's death. It would be so wonderful if anyone had a connection to this family.

Bob,

Es tut mir leit, aber I don't have any information relating to your folks.

I obtained most of my Hamburg information...

1. From the Hamburg Passenger lists.

2. By airmail correspondence with dem Pfarrer. I followed a basic German-language correspondence example and included a cashier's check for a few dollars. The response was wahrhaftig wunderbar!

If there's any more I can do for now, please advise. Danke!
