Bernadino Palacios 1870?
Anyone have any idea when this could have been taken? On the back it says:
"Juan Bernardino Palacios about 1870"
Is this from around 1870? He had a son with this name who was born in 1870, but Bernardino Palacios was born much earlier than that... So I'm trying to guess whether this person was BORN in 1870 or this photograph is from 1870.

Hi Elizabeth.
I would say that the photo was taken around 1870. I have seen some in some books and have copies of some that are similar in dress style from that period.

What size is the original? Is it a tintype? A cartes de visite? A cabinet Card? This helps determine the date of the photo. If you don't know how to identify which it is, see the topics in the Discussion forum of this group.
Does it have a photographer name and logo? Front or back? -
