FTM 2009 Help creating Family Group Sheet in PDF file format

I would use a free PDF printer driver like http://www.dopdf.com/. then when you go into print you will see an option to print to PDF.

You do NOT need to do that, as Version 2010 Has the PDF generation built into the program.

Not a problem. Of course, you can have a PDF "printer", I do, but I use the PDF Generator that is part of the Family Tree Maker program. Bor me, its much less confusing.

I use a PDF printer for so many things never knew FTM had it build in :)

Yup. Actually Family Tree Maker has the capability to generate a PDF file for quite a while.

I looked at the Feature History of Family Tree Maker and the PDF feature was added in Version 10.

You have goin to the right pages in 2010, just Export to PDF. Do you see that option? You don't want the Send as PDF, unless you want to send it in an Email. Exporting will save that PDF file where you tell the program to save it to, like your Desk Top.

Russ, I have the 2009 version. I have tried the Send as PDF and Export as PDF. I want to attach it to a note to another person on Genealogywise.com. I'm not real computer literate. Sorry.Eileen

So, you HAVE created a PDF file and you have saved it onto your PC AND you know where you saved it. It this correct?

I am not sure what you mean by "attach it to a note to another person on GenealogyWise.com. Where are you putting the "note"? The piece that I understand, is that you want to send someone your PDF file. It's HOW are you trying to do that.

Please let me know where you are starting from.

If you reply to this message, just below the box is a "upload files" link. Is that what you are looking for? That would be WHERE you upload that PDF file to GenWise.

Russ, I guess I am really confused on this. I did save the file, named it, and it is in my email program waiting to be sent. But what do I do then? I am wanting to send this to Gene who is helping me with my family thru Genealogywise.com. Should I then click on upload files (below)?

Sorry for the confusion. I have you TWO answers, because you didn't say HOW or WHERE you wanted ot send the PDF file.

IF you want to send it as an attachment to an Email message, just Attach the PDF file to your email and send the message to the person you want to send the attachment to.

The second was, IF you are trying to post the PSF file here on a GenealogyWise.com message board, that is when youi would post the message and Upload the PDF file.

If I am still not explaining, Please tell me WHAT you are trying to do and HOW you are trying to attach the PDF file to a Note. WHAT Exactly, are you trying to do.

I think I have given her the commands:

Share, Export to PDF, which is where she started. That will bring up a Save As window, to ask WHERE to save the PDF file. The Filename will be a default filename based on the FGS.

She does NOT have to email the file, if she just wants the file on her computer.
