G'day Chip, and greetings to all those interested in Welsh genealogy. I am researching the name Brazenor, which appears to have originated on the Shropshire/Montgomeryshire border and today can be found in the UK, USA and Australia. However, my main interest in Wales is the name Beddoe/Beddow/Beddo in particular in Glamorgan and Monmouthshire. My Beddoe family can be traced back to Swansea in about 1680, via Llangyfelach and Loughor, from whence they moved to Rhymney, Monmouthshire in about 1830. I know that members of this family emmigrated to New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

I am also interested in Probert in Breconshire and Monmouthshire ; Owen in Pembrokeshire and Monmouthshire; Morgan & Griffiths in Glamorgan and Monmouthshire.

Regards, Aubrey Cox

I've got a tentative lead on my Rowland Jones line. He was born in 1797 maybe in Bala, Merionethshire. I have never researched in Wales and would love any pointers. How do I start looking for Bala records? Thanks.
Hello all. My name is Susan Thomas Thompson. My great grandfather, Thomas S. Thomas,  was born in Pencader, Carmarthenshire, Wales and immigrated with his widowed mother and siblings in the 1870s. His father was Morris Thomas who was born in Llandyssul in the Teifi River Valley. I also have the surname Griffith on my mother's side who came over from Wales in the late 1600s (was my grandma's maiden name). I have always been drawn very strongly to my Welsh Heritage.  I majored in Family History-Genealogy and emphasised the British Isles. I did my internship on the British Floor of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. I currently live in Utah again and work for a private firm out of Salt Lake.  I would be happy to try and help anyone as part of this group to do lookups in specifically known sources if needed. I would enjoy any discussions and even to learn more about the sources I am not as familiar with. I definitely have hiareth  Cymru am byth.
My gggg grandmother was Cloe LLewellyn. She was born before 1753 in Tyrell County, NC and died 1794 in Edgecombe County, NC. She married Thomas Grimes in NC. Here parents were John William LLewelllyn and Frances Culpepper, both from Virginia. She was Welsh and I believe that during the Revolutionary War she had an uncle who was a well-known Royalist serving in the English Army although I am not sure what his name was. I would gladly accept any information members have about Cloe and her family, especially their pedigree and where they came from in Wales. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure how often this is checked since it appears the most recent date someone posted in the topic is 2011, but I'll give it a go.

I'm researching my Welsh JONES ancestors, specifically, I'm looking for information on my 4x Great Grandparents: William and Annie Jones and their children. William was born in 1849 in Dale, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Annie was born in 1861 on Alderney Island. William served as a lighthouse keeper with Trinity House. He worked as a keeper at about five different lighthouses around England and Wales, including Casquets Rock Lighthouse, Alderney which is where he met Annie. The couple had 11 children: Annie Rachel b. 1874 Alderney; William Oliver b. 1876 Trevose Head Lighthouse, Cornwall; John James b. 1878 Alderney; James Edward b. 1882 Alderney; Thomas b. 1886 Alderney; Edward b. 1887 Alderney; George b. 1889 Alderney; Winnifred b. 1891 Alderney; Harold b. 1892 Dover, Kent; Dora b. 1898 Anglesey. I know my 3x Great Grandfather William Oliver Jones immigrated to the US in 1910. I also know his brother, James Edward Jones served in the Merchant Navy during World War I. I found William and Annie with Thomas and his wife (also named Annie), Harold and Dora in the 1911 census in Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales. I also found James Edward Jones living in the same town that year with his wife (also, ironically, named Annie) and daughter Mabel. I've found some death records that they might be matches for William and Annie, but I'm uncertain. I'd really like to find out where they're buried and find pictures of their headstones. I'd like to know more about James Edwards' service during World War 1 as well. Any information on any of these people would be greatly appreciated. I'd also love to find any still-living cousins.

Hi I am your cousin. I am Edwards great great granddaughter. Thank you for posting this message I have been working on the tree for a few years but knew nothing of your branch. I did tell my mum a few years ago that I thought I had found a passage to America for one of the brothers but never thought I could follow this ant further. Happy to answer any questions you may hav.
