I have set up a discussion on this free offer in the PEARSE group and included a link to the 'Pierce DNA Project USA & UK' site which carries the free DNA testing offer.
I took up the offer myself and so had a test to the 25 marker level which revealed matches with members of two families in Ireland, both with different surnames so our link must be way back.
I shall be interested to know whether any other Pearses wish to take up the offer.

I am looking for information relating to the Pearse family resident in the Plymouth area of Devon UK from 1600 on & later elsewhere. We have traced our links back to Francis Pearse (b abt 1580, died 1645 in Ermington) but need further info to fully authenticate these earliest links

Now it would be very lucky if one of the Pearse descendants from South Molton tested! Martha Pearse (baptized 23 Jan 1736 at South Molton) married Philip Rowcliffe 9 Apr 1760 at South Molton. Martha's father was Philip Pearse (mother unknown at this time) and Philip was baptized at South Molton 12 Nov 1703. Philip's parents were: John Pearse and Martha Gwythers and they were married 9 May 1686 at South Molton. John Pearse was baptized 26 Nov 1650. I believe that Martha was his second wife (Joan Woolscot was his first wife and they married 30 January 1670). This John Pearse's father was also John Pearse and baptized 26 May 1629 at South Molton (son of John Pearse and Joan Cannyforde who married 10 Oct 1627 at South Molton). John's father was Lewes Pearse and I have always wondered if he was Huguenot! I wonder if it is the same family? The South Molton registers begin in 1601 unfortunately so I am unable to learn more about Lewes Pearse thus far!
Are you related in anyway to Thomas Pearse born 1845 in Torquay, married to Anna Tuck?
Sorry, Elizabeth, can't help with this as I'm not related to that Pearse family. There were a lot of Pearses around in Devon. Mine currently starts with Francis Pearse b abt 1580 in Ermington Devon - the tree is available on GenesReunited. If you'd like to look at that send me a request via GenesReunited and I can then open the tree to you,

Cecil
Hello there!

I am a pearse descendant and my mother and her cousin are interested in signing up for the DNA testing to see if we link in with everyone else. I am fairly proficient in tracing family trees but have hit a bit of a wall on the Pearse line. Where would i go to sign up for this please?

Kind Regards

Tasmin Clement
Hi, Tamsin,

Here is the link (http://www.piercednanorth.com) to the site making the free offer but I think you will find that they limit the offer to male Pearse (whatever spelling) descendants as they are following up the male line for their research. Sounds terribly sexist I know but do have a look at the site for you may find information of interest to you in your own research.

I don't know whether your branch of the Pearse's might be linked to mine but I have my family tree up on Genes Reunited if you want to contact me via that site I can then open up my tree for you to look at. My daughter and I have taken our research back to about 1580, a Francis Pearse born in Ermington, Devon, but have been stalled at that point until we can get down there to look at local records.

Good luck with your research,

Cecil D Pearse
Hello again, thank you for your prompt reply! It is a shame we are not allowed to participate as unfortunately there are no male representation for this line now- just 4 female descendants! I did try messaging you on genes reunited but i do not have full membership and it does not allow it. If you like i can email you and invite you into my ancestry family tree?
Tasmin
