Does anyone know if there are any records of those people who were buried in Emmigrants Mound on the grounds of Hotel Dieu (Kingston General Hospital) 1,400 people were buried there, most likely between 1847-1848.

As far as I know there were supposed to be some records being formed, but I'm not sure that ever happened. Some of the remains and a very large and beautiful statue was erected at St Mary's Cemetery on Division St in memory of those lost, but there are no names on the memorial, just their story. I did find this article, http://www.weareirish.ca/dynpage/386 but it's a few years old so I'm not sure if they followed thru with the documentation or not. I don't recall seeing anything at the last Kingston Genealogical meeting I attended (late last year) regarding this, however I'd be happy to look at the Kingston Library Genealogical section for you next time I'm there if you'd like...are you looking for a master list or particular names? I"m in Kingston and try to get down to the library once a month.
Velda, thank you so much! Yes, the person buried in Emmigrants Mound I am interested in is my great great grandfather, Patrick Murphy. He was from Ballyeden, Wexford, Ireland. He left 3 children in Kingston, Mary, Michael, and Nicholas Murphy.

Beth, I'm sorry for the delay. 10 days after I replied to this I ended up in the hospital with a diagnosis of cancer. My passion is genealogy and I'm finally feeling well enuf (for now) to pursue my research. I've made note of this information and I'll see what I can find out for you. Do you have any dates at all, even guesstimates? That would help a little more....thanks....If you're still interested please let me know :)
Velda, I'm so sorry to hear of your cancer. I hope you are feeling much better. You are in my prayers. If you have the time & energy, the person who died in Kingston (on board the ship) was Patrick Murphy who was born about 1810 in Balleyden, County Wexford, Ireland. The town is not far from Enniscorthy. I'm guessing he died between 1846 - 1850. According to oral family history, his wife Mary Cowman, died of the fever in IReland. They had 3 children who came on the same ship with Patrick: Mary Ann Murphy b 1836, Michael Murphy b 1838 and Nicholas Murphy b 1840 all in Ballyden, County Wexford. Patrick and Mary were married 9 Nov 1834 in Davidstown, Co Wexford. I've found the children on the 1851 Ontario Census. They were separated and placed with families after the nuns took care of them for awhile at Hotel Du. Thanks!
