One of my great grandmothers was Alice Grimes who was born in Hickman County in 1849 and died in Haskell County, Texas in 1911. Her father was John Grimes who supposedly was born abt 1800 in Tarboro, Edgecombe County, NC and who died in Hickman County after 1860. John was married to Elizabeth Walker who was born in Northumberland County, VA and died in 1890 in HIckman County, TN.
John's and Elizabeth's childrens were: George, Thomas, Missouri, William, Sarah, Martha, and Alice. I have information that takes the family back to Robert Grimes (b1834) in Jamestown Colony, VA, but that has not been verified yet. I would like to hear from anyone related to this Grimes family. I am researching the Grimes families of Grayson Co., Kentucky. The surname is sometimes shown as Graham.

I have not found any of my Grimes ancestors or relatives living in Kentucky. The family I am researching moved to Hickman County, TN and apparently stayed there as I have not found any evidence of anyone leaving TN except for my great great grandmother who moved to Texas with her husband about 1874. This is not much help to you, I know. Phillip
The Grimes (Graham) that I am researching in Grayson Co., KY apparently were in Tennessee (somewhere) before moving to Grayson County. I don't think they were there that long. They are troublesome to research. Ruby

I seem to have a different Grime family all together. My great grandmother, Cora Grimes from New Lebanon, Indiana 12/07/1899-06/27/1988 and father Samuel born in 1849. It's a tough nut to crack, huh?
