The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

Both families appear to have lived around the Middlesex area, but I am stuimped on John Simmonds, b.1799 and living in Paddington most of his life, and where he came from before then (or born to whom). He married Susan Harris and had three children.
I'd dearly love to know where he's buried ("Westminster" doesn't help and i have done burial searches to no avail), and mainly want to trace back anyway. If anyone is a geneologist or can offer fair price services, happy to know. I live in Australia and am a pensioner but want to come over, and would like to know exactly where i am headed when I do. Thank you!

Hi Jennifer,
I am interested in your Simmons line.
I have Edward SIMMONS (+spelling varients) married Harriet Maria BURGESS in 1860, Hexham NSW.

His father was John SIMMONS / SIMONS who arrived in NSW in 1829 on the Mellish. I have John's birth around 1807 (not proven).

Harriet was my gg-aunt, and when she died in 1870, Edward married Catherine HARDES in 1874. In total, edward had about 14 children, although not all survived infancy.

Do u know if john went back to england at all as my john is marked as dying in middlesex as well. I have no Edward that i can see....
Hi Rosie, Unfortunately i don't think it's the same Simmonds. My father was Norman Simmons, his father was Sidney, and Sid's father was John Rewe Western Simmonds who died in New York having left the family to become an actor. I doubt there is any link between our lines.
Hi Jennifer, I think we may be related.
My line comes from John's son Francis.
Don't know much but would love to compare notes.

You doofus, It's me, Jennifer L SImmonds Melbourne Australia.
Guess what,
Yes we are related!
How's that about Sidney,did u read it?
If we go back to the Simmonds I think(am worried) we may, then it runs in the family.......there are only 2 john simmonds round the time i am looking at and one's a bad boy!
Do you know when and/or where he died?

Or where he was born (he would give that information in the censuses if he lived beyond 1851)?
Not yet, still looking into it. Basically i gave up and started on another line - everything stops for me when it gets to parish records etc. but I shall look into it this weekend and get back to you. Thanks Sean.
According to the 1851 Census index he was living in the Paddington area and says he and Susan were born in Paddington too. Based on that, it is possible he was born, baptised, died and buried in the Paddington area. That's part of the "Kensington" registration district for births, marriages and deaths. At least that narrow your search a little bit!
Yes, i got all that, thanks very much, but I cannot find anything more. There's a John born 1799 to William and Mary I think but i have no access to those records. It's soooo frustrating living so far away from it all. I tried Parish Chest but no payments can go thru, for some reason every way i try to pay is being declined, which is very annoying, i can tell u it is NOT my credit card which has NIL balance!
He was born in paddington in 1799. I think his mum and dad may have been william and mary but i can't get hold of any 1801 middlesex census, not being over there, and i need that or the parish records from round then. He died in 1856 i think again in Middlesex

I was very excited to find this post, but its not the same as my John simmons :(
still going to follow
my john simmons was born 1820 in penshusrt, kent
