Possible upgrade from 2008 to 2010........
Using 2008 now. I know 2010 is available and I have viewed the videos highlighting the new features of 2010. However, I don't really see that much difference in the versions. I want to keep up to date, but am not sure it is worth the expense. I need some feedback from anyone out there that has upgraded from 2008 to the newest version. What do you all think? What are the major differences?

I upgraded from 16 to 2010,I found if very different at first,in fact I didn't like it much then.Now I have got use to it,I find its much easier to use,now,,, -

FTM 2010 is not fundamentally better than FTM 2008, and you know how bad that is. I recommend upgrading to Legacy or RootsMagic.

What do you mean by "fundamentally better"?
I have to disagree with you. Version 2010 is FAR better then 2008. Performance is the biggest difference, but that are many features that have been re-introduced in Version 2010 that are NOT in 2008.
I am NOT saying anything about your comment about the other Genealogy Programs, that each of our choice. As far as I am concerned, (for what ever that is worth) 2010 is the best version so far.

The Biggest difference is Performance.
If you have 2008 with it's 2 patches you are 2 versions behind and 3 patches behind.
There are a number of features that have been added, getting us back closer to Version 16 as far as features are concerned. A number of fixes have been made, specifically in the Relationship area.
Were you new to Family Tree Maker with version 2008? or have you used previous versions?

I have used it many years, but had a very old version before v.2008. I can't even remember what year it was. It was at least five or six years old. I use the program, but not that much. I am going to work on that. And I know nothing about patches. So I am working with 2008 with no patches. How do you learn when there is a new patch available?
