My grandfather was William Andrew Hughes. My grandmother, Josephine Thompson Hughes, said his birthday was August 10, 1893. I got a copy of their marriage certificate, which I gave my mother, Naomi Hughes, for safekeeping (she is the genealogist). On the certificate it said that he was from Wyandotte County, Kansas. My grandparents married on April 21, 1926 in Claremore, Oklahoma which is in the northeastern part of Oklahoma. She was already pregnant with my Dad because he was born December 15, 1926 and weighed 10 pounds. My mother told me that my grandmother said that they separated because they disagreed on where they would live. I can see that because she was a woman of strong opinions.
