Hi All,

I am trying to find information on Alfred TAYLOR from North Carolina. He was born in 1813 and married Mary "Polly" Bailey about 1830 (also born about 1813). Ancestry.com family trees indicate that he was from Edgecombe, but I have no source records for that. He had a large family of ten known children born between 1830 and 1849 all in North Carolina. I have not been able to locate his family in North Carolina at all. I'd like to find birth records for any of his children, proof of where in NC he lived, or his parent's information. Since all of these birth's were pre-1913, does anyone know a good place for me to try next?? (Children's names are Susan, Margaret, Louisina, John, William Bennet, David, Berton, David, Rebecca, Nancy)

Thanks for your help!

I should add that by 1850 the entire family, except for Susan, was living in Anderson County, TN. I have found 1850 and beyond census records which is how I know they were born in NC. Susan is still MIA.
Have you researched his sons to see if they were in the Civil War? If any of them did, you may want to see if there are pension applications filed for them, that may give you information on their lives in NC?

I am the Genealogy Reference Librarian and we have some handouts at our library for patrons that are also on the internet that may help some:
