Hello.  We are planning a a New England vacation for this August.   I am related to the Wing family from Barnstable, Rev. Stephen Bachiler who founded Hampton, Rev. Thomas Dungan from Newport, and  Clement Weaver from East Greenwich.  I'd like to visit the area's where they lived.  We plan to fly, then rent a car.  Any ideas on where to stay, etc?

The Wing Family is having their annual reunion this month at the second oldest house in America and the only house that stayed in the family until given to the historical society. You can visit the home in Sandwich, MA.

I have been on the duck tour in Hyannis that tours land and water, it was ok, little pricey for what they gave you. JFK Memorial in Hyannis is free, limited parking, beaches, you have to pay to park, Main St with lots of shops, street meters, plenty of restaurants within walking distance of JFK.

If you have any questions please ask and enjoy.
The Wing Fort House is one place: http://www.wingfamily.org/wingfamilyforthouse.html

Clement Weaver-Daniel Howland House: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clement_Weaver-Daniel_Howland_House

more to follow!
I have no clue where to stay, since I live in St Charles, MO..... but can I go with you?? Missouri is a GREAT place to leave in August! :)
Hello Carole, not sure if my boyfriend would go for that one. Smiles.
If you like fine dining and a nice room there is the Daniel Webster Inn. The food is scrumptious, the rooms are extremely nice.

And there is a 5 star restaurant within walking distance.

Hyannis also has a lunch and dinner train and they have shows such as play Clue and more occ. It travels along the Bourne Canal, beautiful.

And make sure you stop in at one of the Christmas Tree Shops. Bourne has a very nice one, Hyannis is ok, seen better.
