Clark/Clarke

Searching for information on my Great Grandmother Josephine Clark's family.

All I know is that she is from Scotland ... dont know where in Scotland. Here parents are James Clark and Helen Hastings. I believe she had a brother names James and three sisters named: Nellie, Amy and Nettie. She may have had more sibilings but not sure.

Josephine was born October 7, 1891-1893 in Scotland and died August 20, 1990 in New Brunswick, Canada. She married William Roy Carter.

I dont need any info on the Carter side just any info on the Clark side.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Josephine Helen Shiwell Clark was born 7 October 1893 at Linnville, Lesmahagow, Lanark. Her parents were James Clark, general labourer and Helen Clark, m.s. Hastie who were married 30th July 1893 at Lanark. [ref in register 649/00 0277].. You can find out more on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk where all the statutory registers and old parish registers are available. You buy credits which are £6 for 30 - you usually need at least 6 to identify a person. Hope this helps.

Oh my goodness Betty. Thank you so much! I will be checking into this. This helps out so much. I was just going by Josephine' s obit.

Now to check this out and then to see if I can find out who here brothers and sisters were and find out where their families all are!

If the family were still in Scotland in 1901 you may find them on the census which also on Scotlands People.
6 GBP = under $US11 gives you 30 credits with which you can see up to 5 census sheets, or BMD certificates on your screen. Pretty good value really.

Stacey you might be interested in the Clarke descendants in New Zealand.
Our Ancestor Peter James Clarke (1904-1971) Son of James Clarke and Helen Hastie emigrated to New Zealand as an assisted passenger and married Joan Enid Carew in Wellington in 1929.
There are 2 children of this marriage still living in Australia and New Zealand. Daphne Joan Harvey (1930- ) nee Clarke is my Mother in Law.
I would be thrilled to share our family information with you just let me know what you need. This world really is a small place after all :)
