There are a number of Lalondes in Penetanguishene in the years 1835 onward. One of them is the Jean Baptiste Lalonde you have in you list. Others are Ignace, Joseph and Hyacinthe. I do have a few corrections for you and some additions.
Firstly, the likliehood of J.B. having been born here is almost nil. Prior to 1828 there were few white people in the area and those few were either soldiers stationed at the military post or traders. I'd look to Quebec for a baptism entry for him and, of course, good luck with that name.
He did indeed have a wife named Catherine with many variations on the Nadeau surname. They had three sons born in this area - Francois, Joseph and Moise (Moses).
Joseph was baptised 26 may 1836 but no age was given in the record.
Francois was born 12 January 1839 and baptised the following day. He married Flora Amyot, the daughter of Colbert Amyot and "Jessie" Solomon. She was born in Coldwater (about 20 miles from Penetang) in July 1846 (note the year) and baptised the 31st of August.
Moise was baptised at age 3 weeks on 26 July 1846.
He married Genevieve Delamorandiere who was born on Manitoulin on the 28th of January 1842 and baptised the 29.
All entries are taken from the St. Ann's registers.
Thanks, I was going to write you about this as I was not finding the baptism in St. Ann's. Who are her parents? Am working on an update, soon I hope. Thanks, Jim.
For those who are Indian or Indian descent I have highlighted them in red (no pun intended). I think there may still be a few others in the report that have Indian ancestry but have not researched them yet. As stated before this is from my Anishnawbe database and generally leave off those who are not Indian, also generally try not to put anyone in born after 1920 to avoid privacy issues. Additions/corrections welcome. Thanks for your input so far. Jim.
