I am looking to find information about someone who was adopted, probably around 1900. I have the adopted parents names but would like to find more info. I believe this girl may have been one of the "Home Children"  who arrived from England in the early 1900's. Have never had to search for adoption related issues, so not sure where to start.

If you have the adopted parents names, do you have the location where the adoption took place? What are the names of the parents and the child? Have you looked at passenger lists? Censuses? This is a very interesting discussion. I would like to help.

Hi Karen, I did find some more info. The girl was Mary Brigid Moore, was born Nov 3 1898 and baptised in Dublin Nov 7. Her parents are listed as Patrick Moore and Mary Murphy. I found a passenger on the ship Victorian in 1907 with the same name and age.

She was adopted by Johanna Kennedy and Patrick McCauley. This I found through Mary's marriage cert. She married James Kenndy, who appears to also be Johanna Kennedy's nephew. They were married in Pembroke, ON.
