I would like to order a copy of a marriage certificate for Baltinglass, County Wicklow, Ireland in 1871 and then 1906. I've found several sites which offer marriage certs from 1921 onwards but not for the dates I need?
I have found the marriage records in the civil registration index on Family Search and I know they were Church of Ireland in Baltinglass. I would like to order a copy of either the parish entry or the civil record.
If anyone has advice on how to order, or the most cost effective site I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

For those records earlier than 1921, you most likely need to contact the county parish or the churches located in that locale to find out where the record is FIRST; then you should write a letter to the priest who manages the parish; he would be able to tell you whether the records are intact or not. As early as 1648, many parish records were either destroyed or else displaced due to the Cromwell incursion into Ireland to claim Ireland for England.
If it wasn't Cromwell's fault; then the blame can be placed on the "Reign of Terror" prior to Cromwell's takeover.
Persecution of religious preferences were imposed upon many of the Irish living in Ireland in the 1600-1800s so much so, that many residents simply packed up and moved out of Ireland to avoid oppression.
I would recommend that you start at the National Archives in Kew, Surrey which handles records beginning in 1837. Birth certificates after 1837 are generally found in the county's General Register Office.
The International Genealogical Index (IGI) was established by the LDS Church of the Latter-Day Saints of Jesus Christ and can be found at www.familysearch.org. This service usually requires a small fee of some sort or a subscription to access the records. A final source to start with would be the Society of Genealogists website at www.sog.org/uk; If the link doesn't work, Google it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Donna.
I believe I can order them through the Irish GRO by mailing application forms rather than online ordering.
Familysearch.org is a great free resource and that's where I got the original Irish Civil index info. from.
Cool. I didn't know familysearch.org was free!?
