Just probably an unrelated tidbit....there is a Mexico, KY....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico,_Kentucky...Crittendon county...not too far..a few counties west of Breckenridge, Ky.  No info on when this unincorporated community came into being so it is not clear if there is any match up between Mexico Orendorff and Mexico, KY.

Actually, here is proof of the same time period:

 http://kydgi.ky.gov:2005/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/Jillson&...

Title Family old log house, Mexico, Ky.
Description The house was said to be 100 years old when this photo was taken in 1920. The log house has a shake roof and two cut-stone chimneys. The family is on the porch, some in a porch swing.
Date 1920
Places Crittenden County (Ky.)
Mexico (Ky.)

We still don't know when the name came into use for this area or why.

Well! This is really interesting! Thank you for posting it.  The link doesn't work for me and I can't duplicate your search to pull it up at the http://kydgi.ky.gov/ website.

New link...put Mexico, KY in the search...it will bring up the photos.

I wasn't able to make a connection between Crittendon and Breckinridge counties...but both were formed out of earlier counties and spawned later counties.

http://www.westernkyhistory.org/crittenden/

Kentucky County Formations
Crittenden County was formed from Livingston Co. 1842
Crittenden County Seat is Marion
Livingston County was formed from Christian Co. 1798

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breckinridge_County,_Kentucky

"The county was formed out of Hardin County by a 1799 enactment of the Kentucky General Assembly"

I found Mexico, KY on the map...on Hwy 70 between Frances and Crayne. Fredonia is to the south it looks like. A close up shows the Western Kentucky RR and the Tradewater RR converge near old KY-70 which makes a loop off Hwy 70. There is a road that looks like "Truman Highfil Rd" . Wouldn't it be interesting to visit there!!

Fredonia, I always think of Duck Soup...Freedonia is Going to War!

Dang that sounds close. I wonder where the Fisher farm is that Stephen Orendorff said Jesse was buried. I've sent him emails and asked, but no reply. William got his Masonic degree in Hardinsburg -(the article mentioned it) only problem is that Jesse and his fam didn't move to Kentucky until the 1830s and they moved to Stephensport (used to be known as Jackeysburg) etc. etc...but I wonder...well, back to deeds, lmaoo

Did not realize how many Fisher cemeteries there are in KY.

Hi.....I am also descended from William, if we are speaking of the same ancestor. I found the Orenduff cemetery through a DAR link and have contacted the KY historical society for a better address. But Mexico is buried there, look up Orenduff cemetery on Find a Grave, there are two, one In Texas where William is buried and one in Kentucky where Mexico is buried. The directions are not clear, I have asked for someone to locate it for me and am waiting on a reply,

This is amazing! Where did th e"Mack" nickname come from.?
