My Dinkel family originated in Neu-Ulm, Germany. Valentine Dinkel (born 15 Sp 1857, d 29 Mar 1923) arrived in the US in 1871 at age 16. He first went to Detroit and quickly moved to Pinckney, Livingston County, Michigan. He married Maria Lakin (8 Sep 1856 - 19 Mar 1944) on 28 Nov 1878 in

Valentine and Maria had six children:

I descend from Otto, the only Dinkel sibling to leave Michigan. He settled in Sioux City, Iowa.
