Annajte Mors, or Annajte Demarest Mors, or Annajte Mors Demarest

Annajte, b. 1740, is my GGGG grandmother, she married Isaac Alyea July 1753, DRC, NY,NY, their dau., Maurguerite, m. C. Bertholf, son ofGuilliam Bertholf, their dau. m. Peter Lewis, she and Peter had a son, David, he had a dau Lillian who m. Thomas Wallace, they are my grandparents. In research some problems:

Where does the Mors name come from, some sources think she is dau of John Mors and Ellen Kierstede, and that John is son of Joost Demarest and Maria Meyer (also are Annajte's parents) yet others think John Mors is son of David Demarest and Matie Debaun,who are Joost's pareents. The 1964 Demarest genealogy notes she married a David Ackerman, no date of marriage but notes he was bp 10 October 1733, , another source he is son of Johannes Ackerman(b.1696) and Elizabeth Stagg or Stegge(b. 1696) but I understand that in Vol II of Barbara Tobey's compilation of the Demarest Family, the only David bp about that time was a son of Guiliam, and no mention of Annajte or Mors, finall a Mr. Durie of Woodcliff, NY who does a lot of genealogy makes a statement that the 64 Demarest geneaology should not have noted Ackerman but should have noted Alyea

I agree with Mr. Durie. Just looked up your Annajte (5-201) and noted that there is a question mark before the marriage to Ackermam. In other words, it's a PERHAPS, or POSSIBLY, or WILD GUESS! If you look in the index of the Demarest book you may find her with an asterisk, which meant marrriage and further information on this person is unknown. That's how my ancestor appeared.so a guessed ? marriage really confused the issue. You seem to have better information on her marriage to Alyea.

I do not have any further info on your particular ancestors but you may find the following surnames of interest in your pursuit. The Reformed Dutch Records of Pompton Plains has the baptisms at a probable Demarest family clan gathering:

"Child: Albert bo. Apr. 2, 1791? Parents :Peter Alyea and Maritje; Witnesses: Samuel Bartholf and Elsje
Child: Maria bo. Sep. 8, 1790? Parents: Cornelis Demarest and Maria; Witnesses: Petrus Dem and Maatje
Child: Cornelis bo. May 29 Parents:Daniel Demarest and Maria; Witnesses: Petrus Demarest and M.
Child: Jacobus bo. Apr 22 Parents: Johannis Demarest and Antje; Witnesses: Jacobus Demarest and wife
Child: Jacobus bo. March 18 Parents: Samuel Demarest and Trientje; Witnesses: David Demarest and Tyne
The above five children baptised at Wasek by Dom. Hermanus Meyer."

Does anyone know where Wasek is or was? Should that have read Wesel or Walpack or even Warwick?

thanks for the info, I have been told Wesel and other similar words in this context does mean Warwick and the person who told me says it comes from dutch reformed church history he has read

greetings, as a followup to the Annajte Mors Demarest & ?David Ackerman marriage,noted in the Demarest Genealogy which lists Annajte as 5-201, it notes D. Ackerman a a bp date of 10 Oct 1733, I got a note today from Ms Pook, Secretary Consistory, lst Reformed Church of Hackensack, Church on the Green, states that there records note a 14 October 1733 bp of a David Ackerman, his parents listed Gallen Akkerman and Rachael Van Voorheese, has nothing to do with possible marriage but if anyone is interested in that Ackerman reference, this is added info
