According to William Henry Roll, Pieter Adrienze Van Woggelum's father was named Adriaen Joosten. He married Anneke Pieters, whom W. H. Roll states was probably from Holstein in Denmark. After he died, she remarried twice - first to Jacques Kinnekom in Alkmaar, then to Barent Janse Bal, in New Amsterdam.

Having just joined your group, I shall introduce myself and the ancestral lines I am working on. I am the product of Dutch heritage on both sides of my fimily, My maternal grandmother was a first generation American of Dutch parents. Indeed, several of her siblings were born in Friesland. Therefore, I have been working on both G grandparents for some time now with some success. About 2 years ago, I lucked out and made contact with a generous lady in Holland who provided over three hundred ancestors (and siblings) that transcended the 1811 barrier!

At this point I am looking to put some 'meat' on this skeleton framework - the history and day-to-day life of these people. (As for my dad's lineage, the line leads to New Amsterdam, and will expand on that line at a later date.)

The following is what I am working with:

1 Antje Janje SIEDSMA. Antje Janje was born in New York, Yates County, Mays Mills, on 18 Apr 1890. Antje Janje died in New York, Oneida County, Clinton, Lutheran Home, on 4 Jul 1979. Education: Sixth Grade+ Whitesboro Schools.

On 1 Jul 1913 Antje Janje married Charles Edward TRAUTMAN Jr., in New York, Oneida County, Whitesboro.

They had the following children:

i. Madeline Dorothy (1915-2011)

ii. Elizabeth Anna (1919-1992)

iii. Anna Jane (Living)

2 Jentje Sieds SIEDSMA. Jentje Sieds was born in NEDERLAND, Friesland, Wymbritseradeel, Tjalleberd, on 3 Mar 1852. Jentje Sieds died in New York, Oneida County, Oriskany, on 22 Jun 1945.

On 17 Oct 1874 Jentje Sieds married Durkjen Taedes DE JONG, in NEDERLAND, Friesland, Gouw.

They had the following children:

4 Sieds Jentjes SIEDSMA. Sieds Jentjes was born in NEDERLAND, Friesland, Rauwerderhem, Rauwerd, on 8 Jun 1822. Sieds Jentjes died in NEDERLAND, Friesland, Wymbritseradeel, on 26 Aug 1872.

On 10 Oct 1851 Sieds Jentjes married Lijsbet Willems ALBERDA, in NEDERLAND, Friesland, Wymbritseradeel.

They had the following children:

Did you look at Alle Friezen? They have scans of marriage certificates (and probably birth and death certificates) of several of your ancestors.

Arnold, Hi, I hope you are fine and healthy and still interested in your descendancy.

I am most probably a far away cousin, as my great grandmother is Jantje Sieds Siedsma, the younger sister of Jentje Sieds Siedsma, your great grand father.

My mother is called Jantje, after her grandmother, and my grandmother was called Anna, and so am I.

So the names of your grandmother are also reflected in my direct family!

I have Dutch roots on both my maternal and paternal lines. Terhune and Bergen from New Amsterdam are my maternal ancestors.

My paternal grandmother was the first generation both in the USA (Brooklyn in 1908). Her father was a Van der Neut and her mother was an Oorschot.

I am researching the name Muckey.

Philip Muckey 1782-1874 married Maria VanEver 1794-1889.

They both lived and died in Oswego County, New York. Philip is buried in the Dutch Hill Cemetery, Parish, Oswego, NY and Maria probably is too. I have nothing to document they actually came from the Netherlands or are of Dutch except family history.

My dad's side of the family are/where entirely Dutch, maternal and paternal. My great grandparents, Berend Borgers, his wife Hermina van Beek Borgers arrived in the United States in October 1892 on their way to Alton Iowa. Berend died shortly after arriving in the United States. Shortly in the sense of a couple of weeks. When/where/how exactly I have yet to discover. His widow remarried another Dutchman and had five more children.

I have been able to trace family back to The Netherlands, in the Ede area. Even to a point where the surname seems to "split". Where some family members surname was spelled Burgers while others spelled it Borgers.

I've been able to find a lot of information on Gelias, but am at a "stand still" there. I've located all the information that I could possibly find on Genlias. Haven't been able to find more "current" information.

My paternal grandfather, Martin (Martinus) came to US with sister, half-brother and mother in 1898. Just last week, after 20 years of searching I found his/their birth records in Genlias and now know their real names and have connected to their lineage.

Still learning how to use this website so this may have already shown up somewhere but I can't find it. I have NiclaasVan Schaik and Lambert Van Valkenburg; also Andries Van Wie, van Tienhoven, Van Stoutenberg. Van Loon, Van Gelder, Van Der Straaten, Van Der Poel, Van Der Linde, Van Den Bergh, Van Boskerk, Van Arnheim just to name a few. I can get them to Holland and lose them.

Some of my Dutch ancestors came from Rijssen (in Overijssel) and from Doornspijk (in Gelderland). I'd be grateful to hear more about these places from anyone who might be familiar with them.
