Roberta, I have James Brown, b. circa 1764 who married Janet Walker on 11 Apr 1789. Their children are: James & Jean chr. Stewarton 1789, Janet 1793, Mary 1798, Ann 1801, Elizabeth 1804. I descend from Janet who married James Stevenson in 1814. I have no other information on this family.

I have Jean Brown born "about 1790" but likely in Paisley ... not sure how to verify if there's a connection as the given names are such common ones. She married my great-great grandfather James Dunn - they had a daughter Janet.

Roberta, when did your Jean Brown/Dunn die? If it was after 1855 her parents should be on the death certificate. Have you got the Dunn family on the census? If you don't have access to Ancestry or Find My Past then freecen have good transcriptions for 1841 & 1851 for Scotland.

I don't have any other info on James & Janet Brown that I remember. I am away from home with no access to my tree until Tuesday so will check then and get back to you if I can add anything.

I have a David Muir in my family tree as he married one of my family members, Annie Freeman, in Kilmaurs in Oct 1869.  David was born in 1845 in Neilston and was the son of William Muir and Mary Stewart. Let me know if he fits into your tree.  If so, I can provide additional information on his family.

Hi Lorraine - thanks for this. David and William aren't names that appear in my tree ... but can you give me any other family names, they could be cousins. Do you know the names of any of William's siblings?
