My family in Northern Ontario always pronounced it as Cat +Sue +Dal.

I had asked members of the Catudal group on Facebook this question and some of the variations related back were

Ca +Da +Dal
Ca +Tu +Del
Cat-U-Dal
Ca-Tu-Dal
Catch-U-Da
and
Cat-uh-dal

How do you pronounce our family name of Catudal?

In french we say Ca-Tu-Dal
I also saw Ca-Ter-Dal
When you pronounce it, on which syllable is the accent made?
So hard to answer because it seems there are so many variants but in my Cat-Su-Dal variation it would be the "Su" part that has the emphasis. Very good point!! Can the others in the group also show where the emphasis, the accent, in their version of the pronunciation of Catudal is made.
we pronounced our last name closest to this version
Cat-U-Dal

In Alberta Canada.....
Thanks
You know how when you go someplace and they ask you your name and you say "Catudal", has it ever happened that you didn't have to spell it?

Just as an aside, I live in Germany and my last name of Schneider is as common as Smith would be in the States, so I never have to spell it. What I do have to spell is Judy. They have no idea where to begin with my first name. The letter "J" in the German language sounds like the letter "Y" as pronounce in the word "you". The letter "Y" has a totally different sound as well.

Judy
