I just imported my database into Legacy 8 Deluxe from PAF. Years ago I traded databases with a very distant cousin and merged hers into mine. Legacy has flagged many errors in the data she provided. I would like to delete all the descendants she provided below where our lines meet. That goes back to the early 1800s. I'm really only interested in my family line and not very very distant cousins. Anyone have a suggest on a easy way to delete them?

First you need to find the ancestor that has all of the descendants you want to delete. Tag that person and then that person's descendant line but NOT the entire descendant line. Then you need to pick the first option. Once you have the people tagged, then TOOLS > ADVANCED DELETING and then delete everyone on that tag. You need to backup the file first because once those people are deleted they are gone and you can't get them back other than a backup.
Then you will need to go to VIEW > TREES. Click the REFRESH button. Now see if there are any stragglers that need to be deleted.

Ron, thank you very much for the advice. I'm new to Legacy and it's been a while since I've done any genealogy research. I recently had a niece ask about our family history and wanted to provide what I had to her. Even though PAF was no longer available, it was still OK for my own personal use. I needed to find a way to have her view my data.and the PAF site had Legacy as an alternative. It seems to be much more robust than I'm used to, so I have a bit of a learning curve. It also looks like I have many other errors to correct.
