A family connection for me is a Bernard Pajaujis, who sometimes spelled his name Peowie and Powie. These are not blood relatives of mine, but do have an interesting (though convoluted) connection to my family. This branch went to Pennsylvania.
I doubt this is your family, but the spelling "Powilaitis" looks a little like "Powie".
Bernard married Agnes Maria Paulioniute in 1908. She was the daughter of Kazimeras Paulionis and Agota Urenskiene.
Kit,
Lithuanian doesn't use the letter "w", so the name is likely Povilaitis and that is a pretty common name. Alternatively, they might identify as Polish and ergo the more polonized spellings. As best I can discern from Anton's (Antanas) immigration manifest, it looks like the family as from Mazgaigalis in Panevėžys County. The Lithuanian Internet Phone Directory lists a handful of folks with this name still in that area: http://118.15min.lt/gyventoju-paieska/paieskos-rezultatai?actionId=...
Richie C Sorry it has taken me this long to thank you for your reply to my message I left! I have tried with not much success to find any more online for that family! What do you mean in your post "immigration manifest"? Where would I find that information or document? Thank you for any help or suggestions! KIT
