Chalk's were in Maryland in the 1600's and believe I can trace my line back to Gabriel Chalk. I do not know if he was related to the Chalk's who were there before he arrived. My 3rd Great Grandfather was Carville Chalk (b. 1784) who left Maryland and settled in South Carolina.
