Hopefully, I'm not be the only one in the group with interests in Berwickshire!
My OPS of Whitsome and Hilton has given me a real appreciation of the Borders.

I have lots of ancestry from Berwickshire and Roxburghshire - http://roger.lisaandroger.com/
My Fairbairn ancestors were from the borders, Fogo and Coldstream. There is a Fairbairn DNA project to identify the different Fairbairn lines on the borders. We are having our Fairbairn reunion in a few weeks, I am hoping to get some volunteers for YDNA testing. Here is my family: http://dnaprojectsportal.com/lineages/dcfairbairnthomaswoodeppy.htm
There's a few Fairburns in my OPS database including the following clump. As you'll see I'e done little work on them becuase their main link to Whitsome is the marriage to Mary grant (whose siblings were mostly born in Whitsome)

Agnes F. (B abt 1833, Eccles) married David Wilson in time to start having children in 1853.

Are you also collecting the spelling variations? I have a family of Fairbairns and another of Freebairns in the OPR database. You can have the info if you want it.
Agnes F. may be from my family, they were from the Eccles Parish also. The only family with the surname of Fairbairn who had issue and stayed in Scotland was the family of James Fairbairn and Margery Rose. James was the brother of my immigrant ancestor, Robert Fairbairn, 3rd great-grandfather.
Most of my maternal line came from Berwickshire. I am also doing a lot of local history research in this area, particularly in Duns, Paxton and Chirnside. I also live in Berwickshire.
Hi
Here are a couple of Fairbairns in Paxton:-
From a report done in January 1800 for George Home of Paxton House about the widows in Paxton town who might be in want of coals. There is an Anne FAIRBAIRN (widow to Mr Logan's steward, Mr Logan was a farmer) [she was not in want of coals].

The 1811 census of Hutton Parish show in Hutton village a Ralph Fairbairn, employed in agriculture. There were 3 males and 1 female in the family.
I also have a lot of of people in my tree from various areas of Berwickshire & Roxburghshire, mostly from when i was going down my paternal line.
