Top of the Day to ya.  My maternal Great Grandmother's maiden name was Rebecca  SAWYER/SAYER/SAYERS who was born and raised in Northern Ireland.  It is typical to have different spellings as the informants to census etc typically spelled phonetically I know.  But also due to the time period of mid to late 1800's its challenging to move beyond her husband John Breen and her 10 children.  The familu lived in Cpunty Tyrone.  I don't believe anyone immigrated from Ireland besides my grandmother, but it would be interesting to find other relations of Sayer/Sawyer to see if I can find more information a different way.

Hi, My grandmother was born HELENA SEGUIN, but her family settled in upstate NY around and in Watertown. Her father JOSEPH SEGUIN, Americanized the family by changing their name to SAYERS. They had several children who created their own spelling,.SAYRE, SAYER as well as SAYERS. No one kept the SEGUIN surname. They were from Quebec.

 I am also a SayerS - although hailing from Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland.  I have only gotten back to 1758 to my 5x great grandfather, William Sayers and his wife "Brickwall" Gillespie.  Most of my Sayers ancestors ended up first in Ontario, Canada, slowly making their way into Michigan's west coast, from the Muskegon County area to Oceana and Mason County.  At the moment,  I have my gg grandmother's scrapbook in hand and culling a lot of family information over the past 100 years.

Hi,
I have Syer and Seyer from Gloucestershire and also just Seyer from Bristol. My 4 x grt uncle was the Bristol Historian, Rev Samuel Seyer [1757-1831].
Ive also seen entries for Sayers and Sayer in family and official documents,

Hi I descend from Edward Sayers / Soares who was born in England abt 1792, He was a soldier and was convicted at Waterloo England for leaving his post and was sentenced for 7 years and transported to New South Wales Australia on the convict ship Susan in 1836, He married an Irish girl from Limerick by the name of Johanna Fitzgibbon in 1844 who was also transported for petty theft in 1836 neither re-offended and went on to have many descendants, does anyone please have any further information that might help me with this research, Cheers Ellie

Does anyone have information about the Sayer family of Goshen, New York? Wm M and Richard Sayer were principles in the Rider Engine Co, later the Rider-Ericsson Co in Walden, NY - 1870's to 1920's. We are researching Rider Engine Co. and would like more info about the Sayers.

Here is a site re: the Sayer family of North Yorkshire. This northern Sayer land-owning line is traceable back to the 1300s.
