Hi Shannon. I have also traced my family back to Samuel Ferguson 1796. That is if my tracing is correct. I was wondering if you have found any additional info beyond that. I haven't been able to trace the line further back, but would love to!!
I am researching my mother's Ferguson line. I was told that Samuel's father came from Scotland and settled in Canada. I have found nothing to support that.
Samuel Ferguson (1796 - 1868)
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Hi, I am trying to research my mother's Ferguson line. Her father was George Marcus Lafayette "Lathe" Ferguson (1876-1945) and his father was Andrew Jackson Ferguson (Abt. 1833-?). That is as far back as I can go with any proof. Andrew was first married to a Sela/Sealy (surname unknown) and they had four sons & a daughter. She died & he married Elizabeth Redden. They had my grandfather & a daughter. Apparently he died & Elizabeth took the two children & moved to Robertson County Texas where the family still is today.
I know he is related to a William Ferguson born in Kershaw Co., SC but not sure how. I think he may be his father but not sure. He lived in Louisiana for awhile. William married Martha Ann Daniel/McDaniel on 30 Sep 1813 in Amite Co. MS. I think I found him in the 1830 Census in Copiah County, MS. In 1840, 1850 & 1860 he was in Choctaw County MS. I have not found him after that. Other researcher say his father was a John Ferguson & that line goes back to a John Ferguson, born about 1673 in Scotland, and was married to a Mary Rudd. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on my Andrew or on William's line. Check out my Ferguson page at:
