Hello, My interest is in my Armstrong family who were part of the mining community in Wingate/Wingate Grange. There were lots of Armstrongs in the area, often with similar forenames, so sorting out "my" family can be difficult.

Hi, I descend from Masons who lived in the Weardale area and were originally lead miners. By 1830 they had moved to Hetton-le-Hole, from whence my great grandfather Peter Mason and family migrated to the coal district in south eastern Ohio about 1880. I have traced them back to a Ralph Mason, end of the 1700's, but the church records are sketchy. According to a book I found on the Internet many were Presbyterian before 1800 or so. Then after that the area was taken by storm by the Methodists..
