I don't have pictures of my grandparents together. obviously they are gone now.
I was wondering are wedding pictures or negatives are destroy after a certain amount of time from the photographer who had taken it back then lets say 1913.
I am sure he is gone now but will those pictures be put a way for historical or geneology use?

I didn't mean "just" in a bad way at wall.

Not many people or organizations restore the actual original photographs anymore. Too much chance for ruining the delicate photos. As far as "just" reworking a digital copy, it is a art form to do it correctly. I have bought high end software, scanners etc. I have spent countless hours studying and practicing the art. I have studied period fashion and hairstyles. I have taken classes and joined professional organizations. Most people do not realize the time and work involved. Thank you for a chance to inform. HUgs

Renee and Debbra, what type of restoration are you doing? Are you just fixing digital copies of photos or do you actually restore the originals?

Joann, I have a few ideas for family craft projects. I made a couple of necklaces using homemade and store bought beads, ribbon, air dry clay and pictures of my Grandparents. I tried to attach a picture but it wouldn't work correctly. I used the air dry clay to make pendants for the necklaces them I printed pictures of my grandparents and them glued the pictures to the pendants. I also made air dry clay beads. I painted the beads and pendants to match. Other ideas: small scrapbooks, framed family pictures, framed pedigree or other genealogy chart/report, t-shirt with family name and year of reunion ironed on, canvas bag with family pictures ironed on etc. I have lots of other ideas, let me know if you care to know them.

Hello everyone! I joined this group because I want to get some ideas of ways to use family tree info that could be used as an inexpensive gift for someone. When we have our family reunions, we also have a raffle. It makes sense to me that the raffle prizes should be something family related, whether it be a copy of a picture, or a handmade craft someone has done. I found one idea on about.com (I think that's where it was) to use copies of old pics to make Christmas ornaments.

Blessings,
Joann

So glad my mom always put names on the back of photos....it has certainly helped with pictures of my family that I took...I compare my photos to those my mom took and can get dates......My biggest problem is deciding if I should keep an old photo album. It has a straw-like substance between the covering and the hardboard on the cover. But it has unique photo pages, perhaps if I used these pages in a frame with the picture behind, that is an idea.
