Ships Passenger Lists to USA

Hi all. I just recently found a new website (new to me anyway) that lists ship manifests from 1820 - 1892, so these would be before Ellis Island opened. The website is http://www.castlegarden.org

I have recently found my ancestor as he came to the U.S. from Germany in 1862 and it was always a dead end because he came to the U.S. before Ellis Island opened. I hope this website will help others.

they have a full view (which can be searched) of the following

History of southwest Virginia, 1746-1786, Washington County, 1777-1870 By Lewis Preston Summers

The other things you mentioned are snippet view only. Hopefully what I just mentioned is the one you were looking for.

I had a descendant come to Maryland from London on a ship called the brothers. Does anyone know if you can view an actual image of the original list? Also was wondering if their are any other paper work that would have info on it concerning the passengers. He came over in 1759 but not sure where in Maryland he ported. Baltimore or Annapolis maybe?

Linda - Passenger lists to New York are on microfilm from 1820 and up. You can order film into a local FHC or search on Ancestry (they have scanned and indexed all the passenger arrivals)

There are earlier ships lists to NY too - for example Olive Tree Genealogy has free ships passenger lists for New York starting in 1624.

Where would I find passenger lists or any immigratioin info before Castle Garden? I know some of my family came into NY but Castle Garden wasn't in use yet. Please help.

there is alot of Fisher/Fischer families from Muenster,Tx.A german town.You may be able to find bunches of information there.I hope this helps.

I am working on the FISHER/FISCHER history for my children. Their great-grandfather, Anton/Antone Fischer, came from Germany, to the US in 1880, married Emma Dora Falke, from Smyth County, VA in 1886. They had 10 children. At the courthouse I found the marriage license, which listed Anton's parents as Frank & Anna Fischer of Germany. I would love to find more info on them. I don't know how to start... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
