The image below was the first photograph of a service member we found in our box of photos that had been saved from the 1800s.
This is Marvin Carver, he was the first service member that I researched extensively. My mother was interested to know if he was related to my 2nd great-grandmother on my dad's side of the family. They named one of my sisters after her.
Cadet Carver was a Navel Cadet at Annapolis in the late 1800s. I traced him to Wisconsin and Minnesota. He then moved on to California.
I have since researched several men in uniform. My latest soldier was mentioned in a letter from my 2nd great-grand uncle to his parents. That was one more soldier I had never found in my family tree.
I hadn't done any extensive work on the Ward family, but that may be my next project.
