I'm researching Samuel James McCabe, our great-grandfather who was an orphan - born in 1867 in Ohio, married Arilla Holtsberry in Paulding County, Ohio and together they had 8 children - he died in Mt Pleasant, Michigan in 1948.

There's a question!
My mother's maiden name was PULKER, & she was very proud it came from Oxford. I set about researching it - 30 years ago - and as you ploughed through parish registers then it was worth noting all occurences - they were going to fit in somewhere!
Eventually I found that all living PULKERs descend from one man - but it was the challenge of piecing it all together that was such fun - no indexed censuses or PRs!

Does any of this connect to your research?
