I am tickled out of my mind!!!! I'm brand new to this social network and so far I am discovering fantastic avenues of information and help. Can't put into words how excited at the mere possibility available. Anyway, the lineage of the HEWITT's I have ends with Asa Hewitt, b. 11 Aug. 1791 in Saratoga co., NY; d. 14 Sept.1860 in Hilsdale co, Hillsdale, MI. He married Laney Pixley b. 3 Apr. 1793 from Barrington, Mass. Looking for help, he didn't just drop out of the sky. Thanks, Shirley

I don't have much time for my family history these days, but I got an email about your question and thought I would give it a search.
Looks like people out there think that his Dad was Asa & Mom Mahaley.
I found at Familysearch.org an IGI record, submitted by someone years ago:
