I have only been connected to this site for a couple of weeks. The family names I need information on are centered around Madison, Estill, Clark, and Garrard Counties. They include : Speakes, Arnold, Park, Daly, Pollard, Shotwell, Terrill, Saddler, Jenkins, Logan, Stevens, Stevenson, Brown, Tribble, Adams, Boone, Jacobs, Poynter, McMonigal, Peeler, Mills, Bowman, Berryman, Wills, McChristy, Sparks, Fritz, Brookshire, Harris, Bryant, Vowles, Newton, Tucker, Cummings, Scholl, Barrow, Muir, Humble, Morgan, Gilliam, Lee, Clark
  • Rusty Speakes

I can share quite a lot of info on the names listed below as well.

I just found on the 1880 census for Kanawha Co. Wv a Nevora Porter age 8 born WV Mary age36 listed as single.
Could her name be spelled a different way perhaps..
  • Anne

Looking for descendants of the NAVE and NOONAN families in Louisville.
  • Dolores D'Errico

Patsy, Yes, this is the census I was talking about. This is her and her widowed
mother. If you look closer, you will see that there is a column with a tickmark
for "widowed"......a "D" would have been for divorced (I think). So, according to
that column, she would either be widowed or divorced. Funny, too, that they
are living right on Porter land. I checked the Land records but can find no
connection between Mary and George H. Porter who owned the land. He
would be the right age to be the father, though, or maybe an uncle.
  • patsy adkins

hmmm makes you wonder what happen to the father.. were they married in WV. Do you know who Nevora married by any chance?

(Bledsoe) Robinson, Squire and Susan (Speaks) Searcy. My walls are for Willam Veatch (ca. 1794) and James Robinson (1761 - 1833).
  • Rusty Speakes

Where was your Susan Speaks from and what dates, Glenwood ? Not a lot of us and all that have traced the Speak/e/s name back tie in with the same Thomas who came here in 1667 with his two sons, John and Bowling.
  • Glenwood Robinson

I show Susan Speaks b 1809, Henry County, KY and d 1880 in Madison County, KY. Md Squire Searcy 17 Nov 1825, Madison County, KY. She may have been the dau of Joseph H. Speaks and Sally Reed.

  • Kay Adkins

I see the name Searcy came up! Hubby's GG Grandpa Edward (Edwin) Remington Adkins (Family moved from Owens, KY, before he was born in MO4 May 1852) married a Harriet Searcy and moved to UT, but then she disappears. Anyone know anything at all about a Harriet Searcy? I've always suspected her family followed the same migration pattern as the Adkins.

    Hi All!
I am researching Shafer, Shaffer, Schaffer, etc. in Jefferson, Bullit, and Union Counties. The family as far back as I have found were in PA., and were suppose to be German emigrants.

I desperately need a death record of my great-grandfather Charles Shaffer born 6 May 1863 in Jefferson Co, son of Joseph C? Shaffer 1835-1912 Jefferson Co and mother of Mary Elizabeth Stout 1839-1912 also Jeff. Co. Charles was married Mary L. "Mollie" Henry b. 24 Jul 1866 in Union Co. died 7 Dec 1958 in Sturgis, Union, KY. She is buried in Pythian Ridge Cemetery, Sturgis, Union, Kentucky.
Charles moved to Sturgis sometime before 1890, cause thats when my grandfather Raymond Henry Shaffer was born. I have no marriage info for Charles and Mollie, but since she lived her whole life in Sturgis, that might be the place.
Any help, would be SO APPRECIATED! Thanks!
  • Joyce Garrott

S Horgan, do you know if your Gr grandfather died before or after your Gr grandmother. Do you think he might be buried in Pythian Ridge also. My husband lived in Union County for 20+ years and we still sometimes go up there. If you thought that he was buried there also I would try and get a picture of his marker. The libray in Christian County has death certificates up to 1957/58 but I would need to know more as to when he died. I cannot promise when we will get up there, but I will try if you like me too.

    Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a death date from Bracken Co. sometime between 1851 or 1852 and 1860 for Andrew Nelson. I have him and his family in the 1850 census, that info tells me he was born in VA. abt. 1822, his wife Mahala was also born in VA. Their first child, Payton, was born abt 1842 in TN. Their next child born about 1845 was born in KY as were all their other children the last being born abt 1852. By the 1860 census the family is still in Bracken Co but Mahala is now the head of house it seems as Andrew is not with them and I can not find him. By 1870 Mahala and most of the family is in Clermont Co. OH.

Does anyone have a book of deaths or church records from Bracken Co for the time frame of 1851 to 1860 that could look for Andrew for me. I would really like to find out when he died and maybe even what happened to him.

Oh yeah my Nelson line is my gGrandmother Delva Nelson Deible. Her brother named a child Delva also and in the 1880 census I find a minor child named Delva Nelson living in TN with a grand mother, that doesn't have the name of Nelson. But I have a feeling Delva is a family name.
Thanks for any help at all!
