The Church of Latter Day Saints [LDS] will no longer issue updates for this program. This forum can help those who use it to share information with each other.
Personal Ancestral File is the correct title.
The software is still free from www.familysearch.org.
We applaud the staff of the Family History Library, FamilySearch and others over the years who have freely shared the first major software for genealogists, and freely shared its GEDCOM standards.
Thank you for correcting the program name. I will try to correct it in the group. I have been a user for about 10 years. I started witih Roots, moved to another, then was told about this gem. I have experimented with others over the years, and always ended up rejecting them. Unfortunately, even Ancestry uses FTM which I find very limiting. The LDS understood the nature of relationships and I can identify that relationship properly in my family history files. I have some problems, though, with creating GEDCOM files - the options and how to use them are confusing. Do you have any experience in this area? Thanks. Spivey
