Over the next few weeks, I'll be writing about the Old Joyner Cemetery in Conecuh County, situated along the Owassa/Brownville to Flat Rock Road. With a cemetery of only 4-5 graves, but a listing that includes nearly 20+ burials, there is alot of mystery surrounding the ones buried there. Family records are again being poured over; memories being rekindled; and relationships re-examined of the families that might or might not have folks buried there--who lived where, etc I am really excited to be able to explore the many facets of this historical burial ground and hope to have help from many different resources, as we seek to uncover possibly more names to add to this cemetery listing.
Names of those known to be buried here include: Barlow, Darby, Diamond, Jones, Joyner/Joiner, Lee, and Shipp families. They have ties to the Peacock, Beasley, Padgett and Brown families of this area, as well as to other allied families. If you have any info, I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Kindest Regards,
