    Carolyn-
    I have alot of Sturgis' and Sturges' in the family as the name was misintrepted on census reports. Most of my family is from NY and CT...going back 15 generations. It could be that some went over to Massachusetts. Can you give me any other info on your grandmother?

    Hi Kathleen:

    Her name was Madeline Eletha Sturgis. She was the oldest of 3 sisters and lived in Lanesboro most of her life. Her parents were Herbert Sturgis and Harriet Humphreville. Herbert's parents were Franklin Sturgis and Emily Shepardson.

    She married Ralph Stevens Spooner and had my Father in 1928. She was born in 1894 and died in 1939 when my Dad was 10. When she dies she was living in Longmeadow mass and her Parents lived with them.

    Franklin Sturgis Parents were Franklin Sturgis and Sarah a Sturges.
