Is there anyone who has had luck finding records from 1850 in Leipzig, Germany?
I am having trouble finding any records on my great-grandfather who I know came to America from Germany in 1873. Will I have to search existing church records? Are there any records left in East Germany?

Louis Paris. My mother told me that it was Louis Von Paris and he changed it after coming to the United States.
