Hi, just joined this group. I have been using Ancestry.com for about 5 years. What I like about Ancestry is that they do not "pump up" their results for a query. I've tried 2 well-advertised sites which will show 2,334 results for a search, but often the names have nothing to do with my query, and even worse, are not indexed, so slogging through lists like Mn to Ne, with nothing that remotely matches---even when I know there is a record (that I found on Ancestry!) So I have little confidence to search such sites with less information.

I like the old lists. I don't like the computer memory density of the new interfaces. I don't like the new viewers as used in Footnote, Family Search pilot, and now Ancestry. All that stuff cluttering up the image, soaking up computer memory and making my eyes tired trying to work the bells and whistles-uses up my research time! But over all, I have been very pleased with Ancestry, I now have family trees from records where I started with only a memory of something my mother said.

That has made it worthwhile.

I have a bit of time to spare. What exactly is involved in helping with the site?

To Betty Jo Blevins. One of my GreatGrandfathers was Jeremiah Harding Blevins. His father was Tarlton Blevins.
they came from Tennesee/Kentucky. Do you have them in your tree?

I have several family trees on Ancestry.com. Bleveins Family Tree-Ky and Va, Blevins Family History Site and Stevens/Barker Family Tree belongs to my husband side of the family. Green/Parson, Johnston/Shoemaker belongs to my mother's side. The Meadows Family Tree belongs to my father's side. And my nephew's I started on for my nephew is Springer Family Tree.

These are all works in progress and some has pictures. Still trying to get some relatives to share their pictures. They want a book but won't share information or pictures. Anyone else have the same problem?

I have three tress on ancestry.com right now. One is Joyce Family of Trigg County, KY (which encompasses all of my mothers family), My Long Lost Smith Family (which is my father's family which took me over 20yrs to find anyone related to me) and then I have Garrott Family of Western Kentucky (which is my husband's family). My actual Joyce Family file on my computer is larger than what I put on here. I mainly concentrated on the Joyce Family that came to Trigg County, KY in mid 1840's and not on the Joyce's that were in NC, VA & TN. I may do that later I am not sure.

My family tree on Ancestry.com is The Wimpsett's, Bale's, Rah's and Axmear's.
This tree is just for me, not my husbands, and it covers my entire family.

My husband and I both use Ancestry.com and FMT. In both, I have mine tlted Coots Tree and his is titled Romanovich Tree. I used my maiden name and he used his last name. That way we keep the two trees separate but if we ever want to combine them, we can just import one file into the other.
