Hello, I upgraded my IE and now I have trouble accessing certain info on Ancestry. Anyone else have that problem?

I love my Ancestry.com, but HATE the new look. I hope they get the idea soon and change it back.

If you open the "Overview" tab it shows all records and other spouses and children,
I had to play with it for awhile.

is anyone else having the problem....with the new facial looks of ancestry.com...when on the family sheet pages...you cannot acces additonal spouses, it drops behind the box that the persons personal information is in....does anyone know how to fix this? I have sent numerous emails on this with no success

Renate,
Maybe Ancestry will decide to address this issue soon. I certainly hope so. I have over 600 items in my shoebox. As it is now, it will take some time to go through it and delete items I no longer need to keep.

Sandra, I've had all of those same concerns about the shoebox on ancestry, especially being able to delete. I think I may have even made this suggestion to them a couple of years ago, to no avail.

I wish Ancestry would impove to shoebox feature. I have lots of items in my shoebox; some of which are duplicates. Why is in when you delete an item it takes you all the way back to the first page of your shoebox instead of the page you were on? It's like staring all over again. When you are looking at the summary at the top where it says you have attached this record to..... it will sometimes also say you have saved this to your shoebox. At that point it would be nice to have an option to delete the record from your shoebox the same way it give you the option to remove the record from that person. Does anyone have any ideas on how to better manage intems in your shoebox?

Hi again. Yes, Sandra, I have been working on my slave ancestors for several years and have definitely used Ancestry to research the families of their suspected owners, as well as the family of the "sire" of all of my great-great grandmother's children in another line. Of course, the time came where I had to take my research to the State Archives, as well as the county courthouse where they resided, but Ancestry did indeed give me the start that I needed.

You are exactly right about finding that elusive ancestor, or even finding one you've known about who seemed to have disappeared from existence in a particular time period! I recently found my grandmother's father in a different county, with a VERY wrong spelling of the surname, and also listed as White. (From what I have learned, he looked White.) I could never find him in 1910, but finally I did find him using the Soundex. His name had been recorded as Gunn, for Green. Finding him and his family in that particular Census gave me answers to several unanswered questions! So, Ancestry definitely does pay off in the end.

If you are thinking about giving up your Ancestry subscription, transfer your tree over to myfamily.com. You will end up with 2 trees on Ancestry, but you can still work on the my family one through Ancestry. Or delete the original after you transfer. Do a "download gedcom" from Ancestry and upload to my family. Any sources will still be attached, but not photos. You can make the tree private if you want. You also get the little green leaf, but you won't be able to do anything with them. A little inconvenient, but at least the data is stored off your site in case of disaster.
