The first known Bradley individual in Connecticut was William Bradley of Yorkshire, England, who arrived in New Haven about 1640-1644. The surname was often spelled Broadley at that time. He is said to have encouraged his stepmother Elizabeth Bradley to come to America with her children -- Ellin, Joshua, Daniell, Nathan and Stephen Bradley. They lived with William for a time, and then Elizabeth, Nathan and Stephen moved to Guilford. I am descended from Stephen. Many Bradley family lines descend from these Bradley founders.
