I have a Swedish Brick Wall that has been solid for about 30 yrs or more. My Ancestor "John Johnson" claims on his Naturalisation Papers that he was born 9 Nov 1839 in Goteburg Sweden and arrived in Australia on 2 June 1862 on "Triton". His parents were "Peter Johnson" and Albertine. He also had 2 sisters who went to America.
I have not yet found "Triton" arriving in Aus on or near that date as a passenger ship and still trying to track if it came as a cargo ship. The story is that his name was "Johannsen" and that he jumped ship. There is no record of a sailor jumping ship from "Titon" and also he lived in and around the docks areas of Melbourne. He was a fisherman and carpenter and married an Irish widow here in Aus. I recently had a lady go to Sweden with a lot of Swedish Research experience but she had no luck either.
Any hints or suggestions would be a huge help.

Hi, do you have the sisters name and date of birth? perhaps the time they went to America?

the only thing I have is one photograph of one of the sisters, my great Uncle (John's grandson) says that one was Sylvia, but then that was the name of thier older half sister so could be completely wrong.
Thankyou for all of these Michael, I will check them all out, but will need to find the time to consentrate at the moment.
Do you have a copy of the Natur. Paper? Or any other copy, perhaps from Ancestry?
Perhaps it will give me some clue...
