I'm hoping can offer a suggestion on one of my hardest brickwalls. According to what I have learned my great-great grandmother's name was Lavany. She was married to an Isaac C. Turpin and lived in Roane Co., TN. She only shows up in one census, 1860. The story goes, that she was an indian and died when the children were little, and Isaac remarried, the children did not like the new wife and went to live with relatives. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am looking for information regarding James Franklin Barker (probably called Franklin). Born 1810, Surry County, NC --- married Lucy Chandler 1831 in Hendricks County, IN --- By 1840 they were living in Marion County, Decatur, Twp. Indiana.---- They moved their family to Warren County, Iowa in the mid 1850's. He died in 1877. I cannot find anything on his parents. HE IS MY BRICK WALL. I've also heard that he could have been of Cherokee Indian and that perhaps his father might have been named Daniel? He has really been a hard one for me. Any help will be truly appreciated.

Hello,
One of my brick walls belongs to my husband's family. I am trying to find a Grace Owens, b. bet. 1900 - 1920 possibly in Sevier Co., TN. Grace married Samuel Brock. They later divorced. Grace died in 1994 according to what little information I have. I am trying to find her parents and any siblings, but so far I haven't found hardly anything on her. Could anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.

I just love the Genealogy World... the people that spend countless hours searching for the buried and lost and forgotten relatives are always so helpful to leand a helping hand to those of us who are not so verse in locating our specific member. At no time have I ever ran across anyone that has been rude, mean or hateful and declined a helping hand to anyone. You guys Rock!

Robert Cann was my paternal Great Grandfather and has been my most persistent brick wall since I began my research at least 15 years ago. Family tradition had him born in Tiverton, Devon, England on the 28th of May, 1827. I have not been able to find any information on his parents or siblings. However Canadian Census reports indicate that he came to Canada in 1858 and was born in 1832 (1871 Census) or 1833 (1881 Census) or 1831 (1891 Census). It is not until the 1901 Census that he is listed as being born in 1828 and then the family somehow ended up with 1827. A search of the 1851 England Census brings up a very interesting result in that there is a Robert Cann listed as an inmate in some sort of institution in Crediton. What makes this particularly interesting to me is that he is listed together with a younger boy Thomas Cann age 11 and the family has mentioned they thought Robert had a younger brother Thomas but they had no information on him. Robert is 18 in the 1851 Census which would mean he was born in about 1833. Looking back to the 1841 Census there is also a Robert Cann, 8 years old, born in Devon and living in Crediton with his parents John and Mary and an older sister Sarah. My Great Grandfather named one of his daughters Sarah and another Mary. Could this be the same Robert? And if so, what happened to his parents? Where are Sarah and Thomas and how do I tie this all together? Canadian passenger lists don't start until 1865 so have been no help. If anyone can help me piece this all together I would be most grateful! Thanks.

Brick Wall #1:

Finest Estell Walker B: 1 August 1880 (1883) different documents vary the year, location somewhere in Tennessee. He married Carrie Calline Hamilton on 21 October 1900 in Jack Co, TX and he died 22 April 1964 in Wichita Falls, Wichita Co. I can't locate any parents or siblings for him.
