Thanks guys.
Mary Lou, I did find the 1861-62 Montreal directory entry for Elias, but that was the only one. I had been inclined to believe the family had moved on, until your mention of another 5 years worth of entries. I would appreciate the other entries greatly, thanks.
Beverley, yes that is the family. I've since found an obituary for the eldest son Elias William, and it did mention his two brothers George and Thomas having lived in Boston. I traced them to Brookline and another area on the other side of the city.
Thank you both!
Hi John,
I noticed a family tree with the following info, they might be your people:
Elias Mortimer
Birth 1806 England
Death 1866 Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Spouse: Jane Morris
Birth 1802 England
Death 1874 Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Children: George
Born 1836 Ireland
Death 1 Jan 1913 Brooklin, Mass
Married Elizabeth Orchard
Hope this helps,
Beverley.
Hello John,
I did locate Elias in the Montreal Directories from 1861 - 1866. I can send those entries to you if you like. Please let me know if you want that information.
Regards,
Mary Lou
Hi John Patten;
You mention you have an Ancestry subscription, so you should check out the Drouin Collection. It has a lot of vital stats records.
Al.
Hi, I'm researching a gentleman by the name of Elias MORTIMER (b. abt 1811 England) and his wife Jane (abt. 1811 Ireland). They appear in the 1841 England census for Hastings and later are found in the Quebec census of 1861, sharing a home with their son George and his family (wife Sophie).
I'm unable to locate Elias or Jane's deaths or locations after 1861. Their children eventually went to Minnesota (son Elias) and Boston (sons George and Thomas).
My primary research area is Aboriginal Australia, so I'm a little unsure of Canadian resources outside of my Ancestry subscription. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
its goiung to be great for the welloff or wholesves there
