Hi my great grandmother was from Co. Cork. with the little info I have on her it makes it very difficult to search. Her name was Ellen Harrington born around1869 emmigrated to U.S. when she was 16 married Edmond Lawlor when she was 18. Her father was Michael F. mother unknown could possibly be named Agnes? You see with such common Irish names it's very difficult. She had two known brothers and two sisters in the U.S.
with her. Her two sisters were Mrs. Patrick Sullivan and Mrs Patrick Harrington first names unknown. One of her brothers died in a New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad accident around 1906/07. She attended school in Ireland until about the eighth grade. I known very little about her life in Ireland most of what I have is on her life in Malden Mass after she arrived here. Any info on trying to trace her in Co. Cork would be a big help. Thanks Karen Worth-Carter

I have an ancestor, Patrick O'Connor who was supposed to have come from County Cork. I'm having problems trying to trace records of his citizenship in the USA. I don't know where he came into, when he came to the USA, etc. No family has been able to find his marriage certificate either, but we do know where he got married and lived. Georgia and Alabama. Any ideas?

Shawn - as I understand it, there aren't any records in Ireland for those that emigrated. The records would be in the "arrival" country. Don't know about those that were sentenced to be "transported out".
I have Collins' from Cork in my family tree. There were from around Baltimore in southwest County Cork.

Anyone know where to get transportation records for Cork residents? I had a few bad boys (and girls) in my family, and once they were transported, they vanish.

Hi help needed

My mothers' side of the family (Mullaney + Brookes) were all born and raised in cork, and I am interested in the streets they lived in, 33 Maylor Street, 28 Harpurs lane and 25 Paul street. these houses and even Harpurs lane have gone been "improved"
If anybody has any old photos 1880-1920 of these streets or better still showing parts of the house numbers given they would be most appreciated.

Hi to all those of you interested in your cork relations around 1900

If you go to http://www.corkpastandpresent.ie/
they have great maps of the whole of the city of cork
of that time which show accurate sized floor plans of every business
and private dwellings there rooms, closets etc even the angle of pitch
of the roof (if you need that) so you can see how you ancestors
lived, you will find the streets and houses that have been demolished
in the modernization (improvements) I've learnt a great deal from them.
