Robin, I started thinking about my journey in researching my family. I was excited about the DAR because of a relative who was researching one branch of our family. I saw several holes in his research and figured I could never join. I bought a patriot index (book, pre-database) on Ebay and looked up all family names. I noticed the name "Kellett" as a middle name for several male ancestors, so it was my red flag, and he was the one. It took me a while to get the paperwork, but it was worthwhile.
After I joined and had access to the online database (members-only at the time, now public) it took me only two hours to find my mother's patriot ancestor. I had windows up for Ancestry.com, Ancestry World Tree (people put in their own info, so must be verified) and the DAR database. I went back each generation, with each spouse's infor as well, and followed every twist and turn.
If your Roberrt Lauderdale is not there, you can have a lot of fun looking for other ancestors. I sure wish the resources that are available now were available when i was researching my ancestry! Good luck to you.
Robin, I am not finding your information in the DAR database. I can't seem to post the link, so if you go to the DAR site and click on the library page, you will see a link for the DAR Genealogical Research Databases. lThere are two Lauderdales with death information from Tennessee, so it may just be a matter of reviewing your family tree information for errors.
I told my daughter that the investigations since 1980 have been considered the gold standard. She can be thankful that my application, approved in 2009, has been expertly vetted and will make it easy for her to join.
"We work hard so you don't have to!"
I have member to member credit for helping prospects complete their applications and know full well how the process has changed.
Over the last few years I have entered hundreds of applications into the DAR database. The ones now are from around 1918 and in many cases have very little data on dates, locations, etc. Sadly, I have lost a few ancestors because of this. However, in the interest of good genealogical standards, DAR is doing an amazing job of improving our records.
So, we should be very thankful for the excellent opportunity we have to get sound data on these applications. I well know from helping others and from my own research that it can be frustrating. Brick walls are not scaled easily or at all.
Keep on keeping on my dear sisters.

Ive seen where some there closing lines too. They just closed a line that we were working a for lady know for over a year.
I have most problems with the generation that comes after the patriot child. Finding that link can be hard.
Hi, by "new requirements" I did not mean they have come out with new written rules, just that they are getting much more stringent on their verification. This is really a good thing, what with many of the very early papers not having enough documentation.
If you go to the members website and do a search on any ancestor, there are lots of notations stating more verification required.
