Davises in New York State

I have been beating my head against a wall looking for information about a GGG-Grandfather named Reynolds Davis. The only thing I know about him is that he married Patience Greene in Berlin NY some time around 1800, based on the birth of their first child.

It seems that later on, by 1850, they had separated. Patience was living with one of her sister's sons and it looks like Reynolds was in western New York, married to someone else -- a woman named Sarah. I have no idea what happened, really. All this is based on information from censuses.

Anyway, I'm wondering if the name Reynolds Davis rings any bells with anyone.
